This quick and easy homemade diaper cream is perfect for when you’re in a pinch!

10-Minute Homemade Diaper Cream - My Momtastic Life

I’m stoked to finally share this homemade diaper cream with you! It’s been a while since I’ve had the chance to make a DIY baby care product. Honestly, I’ve been drowning in work, and Jeff officially started nursing school recently, which means I’m home alone pretty much from sunup to sundown. This will be our life for the next year and a half. Yikes!

I’ve been working about 90 hours a week, y’all, I’m not even exaggerating. But we’re finally back on track and I have my schedule under control now. I’m so grateful to everyone who has been patient with me as we adjust to our new home and work schedule. There won’t be any more interruptions and I’ll be spitting out baby care DIYs like nobody’s business!

This Homemade Diaper Cream Is A 10-Minute, 3-Ingredient Life-Saver

Today’s diaper cream recipe is the quickest, cheapest version. We’re all busy! Most moms don’t have the time to track down zinc oxide and bentonite clay. It’s really meant for regular ol’ moms who just ran out of regular ol’ storebought cream, and are stuck at home. (I’m not looking down on you, I’m just a regular mom too. This is my go-to diaper cream). This recipe isn’t meant to completely replace the good stuff. But don’t worry, I got all you crunchy mamas covered – next month I’ll share the legit, full-on recipe.

If you don’t have beeswax, you need to get on that. Just keep it around, it’s so useful! Here’s the brand I use and love. This little bag will last forever unless you’re a lotion-making addict. (Yellow is better, but for the sake of pictures I’ve been using white).

I feel silly even writing out the “directions”. That’s how freaking easy this recipe is!

Ingredients:

  • 1 Cup of Coconut Oil
  • 1 oz of Beeswax (I recommend pellets because they melt way quicker)
  • Essential Oils (Lavender and Melaleuca)

Directions:

1. Mix the coconut oil and beeswax in a double boiler.

Or, if you’re cheap like me, make a double boiler by placing a bowl or glass measuring cup on top of a pot of boiling water. #frugalfrannylife. But seriously – does anyone own a double boiler? Is it worth the money? Let me know in the comments.

2. Melt the coconut oil and beeswax until it’s crystal clear.

3. Take the mixture off of the heat and add 7-10 drops of lavender essential oil and 7-10 drops of melaleuca essential oil.

Make sure you use the good stuff. You know, Doterra or Young Living or another similar brand. If you spent under $10 on a bottle of essential oil on Amazon, it’s probably fake. Be careful what you rub on your baby’s booty!

4. Mix it up, pour into containers, and let those babies solidify!

It takes a few minutes for it to settle, but the consistency is perfect in my opinion!

There’s a variety of colors and styles. The pink ones are definitely my favorite.

Well, there you have it, folks! The easiest diaper cream recipe ever, right? I will say that I used a bit too much on Marshall the other night, and his diaper got so saturated with coconut oil that literally fell apart the next morning. So, unless you want to clean up little diaper goopies first thing in the morning, go easy. Don’t smear a whole glob down there. But, the good news is it seemed to help! Coconut oil is amazing.

Don’t forget to pin this idea for later!

See you next Thursday!
