Bug Theme Preschool Worksheets (Plus Free Toddler Flashcards)
These free bug theme preschool worksheets and toddler flashcards are a great way to teach letter recognition, fine motor skills, and more!
If you know me at all, you know I love learning activities for preschoolers! I love planning everything out, personalizing as much as I can, taking pictures and watching them grow. I love it all!
I’m excited to share today’s activity with everyone, and I’m offering my very first FREE printables!
The next 2 weeks we’ll be focusing on bugs, and I couldn’t be more excited! We’re a family of curious, mud-loving boys, so I thought focusing on bugs would be a great excuse to plan some fun, dirt-digging activities.
Today, however, we stayed indoors for our introduction to the different bugs we might get to see on our upcoming bug hunt.
I created a worksheet for Jack and I to fill out together, and he loved it! It took a couple of tries to get him interested because his little brother was practically on top of him, curious about what we were doing.
Thank goodness I made these flashcards for the little ones! I bought the bug clipart from PinkPueblo on Etsy, and used Canva to create the flashcards and worksheets!
Max loved showing his little nephew the different bugs!
Marshall was mostly interested in eating them.
Once we got the babies interested in the flashcards, Jackson and I were able to really focus on the worksheet. We would figure out what bug we’re looking at and sound it out together until we decided what letter each bug should start with.
Jack was feeling shy this morning, so he preferred to trace over the letters after I wrote them in. He did such a great job!
I even made a worksheet for tracing or coloring in his name using the same bugs! We talked about each letter in his name, and what bugs started with the same letter.
He was proud when he discovered that there’s an “a” in his name, and that’s what the word “ant” starts with!

I recommend laminating your flashcards before giving them to your baby or toddler. Paper doesn’t last long in the hands of little ones! Click here to see the laminator that I own and love.
If you use these worksheets or flashcards, I would absolutely love to see!
