Forest Sensory Bin for Preschoolers

This forest sensory bin makes a great addition to a forest theme for your preschooler or toddler! Using soil, fake trees, and forest animals, you can recreate a forest habitat for your child to get hands-on with their habitats unit.

Learning about animal habitats is fun for kids of all ages, but I knew we were ready to start it this year with my toddler and preschooler. And at this age, what better way to learn, than through hands-on sensory exploration?

It’s not a Modern Homestead Mama unit without a sensory bin, and this unit had one for each habitat that we discussed. There are, of course more than 4 habitats, but we only had so much time. Besides, at preschool aged, focusing on 4 is just fine!

Now, my son added tree frogs and a rainforest snake to his bin because we also had a rainforest animal set, but I wasn’t terribly concerned. Technically they’re still forest animals, right?

This was simple to put together, and provided about 30 minutes of uninterrupted fun! To a small plastic storage bin, add some soil, plastic trees, and forest animal figurines!

It’s easier to remember where certain animals come from, when you can physically play and get acquainted with them!
