Hospital Bag for Dad (What To Pack for Labor & Delivery)
Check out the essential items to pack in your hospital bag for Dad, as well as the items I wish we would have packed the first time we headed to Labor and Delivery.
Not too long ago I shared the ideal hospital bag checklist for mom, complete with a printable and some pointers, but we can’t forget about Dad! While the dad-to-be might not need much compared to Mom, he still deserves to be comfortable and prepared.
This article has been bouncing around in my head for a while now. When my husband and I went to the hospital to have my son, we thought we brought everything he might need.
Oh, how wrong we were!
There were 2 main things that would have made my husband’s life a lot better: Medicine, and snacks!
My hubby has trouble sleeping more often than not. Add in the excitement of a new baby coming, and we were both up all night long. It would have been really helpful if at least one of us would have gotten adequate sleep the night before our son was born. We were both so exhausted by the time he got here, it was actually a little bit miserable.
Some Zzzquil and Tylenol would have helped my hubby out a ton! And of course, snacks. Again, we were so caught up in the excitement of the induction, that we didn’t even think about food. Just because I had to starve throughout the labor didn’t mean he had to. Both of us didn’t need to be hangry.

So, the second time around we made sure to pack more than just a couple of outfits and a stick of deodorant. Sure, men are simple, but they’re also forgetful. Let’s not mistake their lightly packed bags for simplicity, when really there are things that they should add.
The picture above shows a brief description of the items we packed in my husband’s hospital bag for the birth of our second baby, Maddie. And yes, the hospital stay was a million times more enjoyable for him!
