Polar Bear Homeschool Mini Unit
This polar bear mini unit makes a great addition to your homeschool bear study, Winter unit, or even just as a random study any day of the year! Learn the anatomy of a polar bear, polar bear facts, and practice writing with my mini unit.
If you’re new here, you’ll quickly see that I love making anatomy worksheets for homeschoolers. They’re fun! My son has been cutting and gluing vocab words onto these worksheets since he was 3 and a half. Of course, there was so much he didn’t understand at the time, but I believe in exposing young kids to an array of educational methods from early on.
It was interesting to watch him work through which word belongs in which spot. Sometimes he would make guesses based on the size of the box. Eventually, he began referencing the other worksheet, and now we’re at the point where he’s working out which letter each part should start with.
He’ll continue to grow into these worksheets, and starting early (without pushing at all) will do us well in the long-run. Heck, it already has. I’ve mentioned it several times on the blog, but one of my goals is to create resources that can be utilized by other big families throughout the years. I have no doubt these will be brought back out year after year, and will be suitable for his little siblings as well.

We started our mini unit out by watching polar bear nature videos on Youtube. He was a bit shocked to see how brutal they can be, but understood the concept of the polar bears being hungry and eating meat.
I made this worksheet bundle, which we completed in the evening (hence the poor lighting), while we listened to kids songs about polar bears.
We finished the day off by bringing down the snow sensory bin, which currently has polar bears in it! It was the perfect small unit study that we were able to complete in a day, and sparked my son’s interest in school again. This was during that weird week in between Christmas and New Years, and we were all getting a little burnt out on our Winter study and “holiday school.”
